Defined Benefit Scheme (Div D)

The Defined Benefit Scheme was known as the State Superannuation Scheme (SSS) under the public system was closed to new members on 30 June 1985. Existing members were either compulsorily transferred to the EISS Defined Benefit Scheme on 1 July 1997 or have subsequently transferred their membership on being employed by an EI employer.

Div D is a defined benefit scheme which pays benefits to members as a fortnightly pension. There are some lump sum options available to members in certain circumstances. Members of Div D are also entitled to the Basic Benefit which is the same as that for Div B members, including the provision of the Other Contributions (OC) account.
